Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

It is my genuine pleasure to extend to you a warm invitation to attend the 19th Annual Fall Scientific Meeting of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) in Miami Beach, Florida. Established in 1994, our objective has been to promote, encourage, and support the highest standards of practice, research, education, and ethics in the study of sexual function and dysfunction. Our fall meeting has become increasingly recognized as the premiere gathering of sexual medicine experts and health care providers in North America focused on the advancement of scientific knowledge in all aspects of male and female sexual health. The dedicated forum for the presentation of new ideas and various talks by expert lecturers presenting the latest cutting-edge developments in the field attract attendees from the United States and across the globe as far away as the Asia Pacific region.

Our Scientific Program Chair, Dr. Nelson Bennett, and the scientific program committee, have worked tirelessly to assemble an outstanding program of master lecturers, panels, point–counterpoint debates, and poster sessions providing a wealth of information on diverse topics, encompassing exciting and timely advances in sexual health. The program will be of interest to specialists in all disciplines of sexual medicine whether you are a physician, an allied health / non-physician practitioner, mental health provider, scientific researcher, or other health professional. We welcome you all!

The outstanding social program has been assembled with the help of our society staff and incorporates several events that will make your visit to South Florida – Greater Miami area even more exciting. The region offers an unparalleled multicultural experience in a sun and beach setting that is attractive to individuals as well as families traveling together. More than most US cities, Miami is many destinations merged into one, simultaneously offering sparkling white beaches right at your doorstep at the Loews Miami Beach, a rich culinary history and superb cultural activities. Built in 1998 as a large and opulent beachfront property, the hotel also took over the historic and beautiful St. Moritz hotel next door and restored its magnificent 1930s art deco design features. The welcome reception on Thursday evening will open our Exhibit Hall and showcase our dedicated sponsors and industry supporters. The SMSNA Foundation Gala on Saturday Evening will showcase the local culture, cuisine and entertainment at the highest standards. Depending on your schedule, you may find the time to visit the historic buildings of Coral Gables, the design district in Miami, or embark on a post-meeting scuba diving adventure in the Treasure Coast. Who knows – you may even learn to Salsa!
The success of our meeting would not have been possible without the significant time commitment and efforts of our management company, Status Plus, whose team of dedicated members including Tessa Benitez, Bobbi Hahn, Vivian Gies, Julia Mensing and David Casalod have contributed endless hours to oversee every detail and make this event a recurring success. We are proud to continue our efforts in promoting a rich tradition of inclusiveness, scholarship, and camaraderie that is well displayed with every year’s scientific meetings.
I welcome you to share your knowledge, contribute to our joint mission, and advance the field of sexual medicine. With your help and participation, we will achieve new heights in clinical excellence and service to our patients. We look forward to seeing you in Miami November 8-11.
