Travel Stipends

Travel stipends* are now available for (first-time) attendees of the SMSNA Annual Fall Scientific Meeting. Travel stipends are awarded based on the need for financial assistance.

The deadline for submitting applications is August 30, 2025. After this date, any remaining stipends will also be available to returning attendees.

*Travel stipends are provided after the meeting once attendance has been verified.

Basic Scientist Travel Stipends
Five $1,000 travel stipends are available for basic scientists who have submitted an abstract for the Annual SMSNA Fall Scientific Meeting and provide a short statement demonstrating their need for a travel stipend. Requests will be assessed by the Chair of the Basic Science Committee and reviewed/approved by the SMSNA Executive Committee. Eligibility to receive a travel stipend includes:

• Being an SMSNA member in good standing.

• Providing written proof** of PhD or other degree.

• Being fully registered for the meeting.

*Written proof: a letter from the department where the individual is employed stating their degree status (PhD or other degree) and position within the institution.

Advanced Practice Provider Travel Stipends
Five $1,000 travel stipends are available for advanced practice providers (RN/NP/PA/etc.) who provide a short statement of their interest and commitment to the field of sexual health and demonstrate their need for a travel stipend. Requests will be assessed by the Chair of the APP Committee and reviewed/approved by the SMSNA Executive Committee. Eligibility to receive a travel stipend includes:

• Being an SMSNA member in good standing.

• Providing written proof* of RN, NP, PA or other degree.

• Being fully registered for the meeting.

*Written proof: a letter from the department where the individual is employed stating their degree status (RN, NP, PA or other degree) and position within the institution.

Mental Health Professional Travel Stipends
Five $1,000 travel stipends are available for mental health professionals (PhD, MSW or other degree within the mental health field) who provide a short statement of their interest and commitment to the field of sexual health and demonstrate their need for a travel stipend. Requests will be assessed by the Chair of the Mental Health Committee and reviewed/approved by the SMSNA Executive Committee. Eligibility to receive a travel stipend includes:  

• Being fully registered for the meeting.

• Providing proof of certification or licensure as a mental health professional.

Preference will be given to first-time attendees.
