Stephen Carlson is a Urologic Nurse Practitioner and Instructor in Urology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He is the APP Committee Chair for the SMSNA and co-authored an upcoming book chapter on APP billing. His clinical interests includes medical and surgical treatments for ED, Peyronie’s disease, ejaculatory and orgasmic dysfunction, male infertility, and BPH. He performs several Men’s Health procedures in the clinic and is involved with teaching residents, fellows, and APP’s. He is focused on patient empowerment, promoting healthy lifestyles across the lifespan, and encourages patients to be highly involved in the own healthcare decisions.
Dr. Shindel is a Professor of Urology at University of California San Francisco. He has been a member at large of the SMSNA and was Chair of the AUA Disorders of Ejaculation Guideline panel and is current chair of the AUA Core Curriculum.
Dr. Landon Trost is a Urologist and Director of the Male Fertility and Peyronie’s Clinic. He has published approximately 150 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. In addition to chair positions, Dr. Trost has served on the examination committee for the American Board of Urology, on three AUA guideline panels, including Testosterone Deficiency, Peyronie’s Disease, and Priapism, and on the Practice Guidelines Committee for the AUA. He is currently the President Elect of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America and the Editor in Chief for the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

Christian “Chris” Nelson, PhD, is the director of the Walther Center for Supportive Oncology at the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Walther Professor of Supportive Oncology and professor of psychiatry and medicine at IU School of Medicine. Dr. Nelson will also serve as chief resilience officer for the cancer center.
His research interests include the impact of cancer on quality of life in prostate and geriatric cancer patients, and the development of new talk therapies for these patients. His research also includes sexual dysfunction after treatments and cognitive effects of hormonal therapy in prostate cancer patients.
Dr. Ziegelmann is a professor of urology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of Peyronie's Disease and Erectile dysfunction. He is a board member and committee chairperson with the Sexual Medicine Society of North America.
Addie Jacobs is an Occupational Therapist working in the outpatient setting, specializing in the treatment of individuals with upper body deficits as well as patients experiencing sexual health and intimacy concerns. Since graduating from occupational therapy school, she has become a Certified Sexuality Occupational Therapist (CSOT), completing advanced training and coursework focused on addressing client factors that impact sexual health and intimacy.
Dr. Pearlman is a board-certified and fellowship-trained urologist with expertise in sexual, hormonal, and genitourinary health and co-founder of Prime Institute in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Jill Krapf is a board-certified Obstetrician Gynecologist specializing in female sexual pain disorders at the Center for Vulvovaginal Disorders Florida. She has published chapters and peer-reviewed articles on vulvodynia and vulvar lichen sclerosus. She is Associate Editor for the textbook Female Sexual Pain Disorders, 2nd Edition. She is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD), and Fellow and Board Member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH). Dr. Krapf is a co-author on the trade book “When Sex Hurts: Understanding and Healing Pelvic Pain.”
Dr. Mio Nakamura is a board-certified dermatologist and an Assistant Professor of Dermatology. She provides medical dermatology diagnosis and treatment to patients of all ages within in our medical dermatology outpatient clinics. Dr. Nakamura maintains a strong interest in clinical research and serves as the Director of the Program for Clinical Research in Dermatology (PCRiD) in the department. In this role, she oversees patient recruitment and participation in clinical and translational studies.
Dr. Nakamura is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. Following graduation, she completed her transitional year internship at St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, MI, and a Psoriasis and Clinical Research Fellowship in the Department of Dermatology at the University of California San Francisco, in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Nakamura obtained her Masters of Science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She completed her dermatology residency at the U-M Department of Dermatology, where she served as co-chief resident in her final year. Dr. Nakamura joined the U-M dermatology faculty in September 2021.
Kristen was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biobehavioral Health with a minor in psychology from Penn State University in Pennsylvania and her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania.
Kristen is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is licensed in both Pennsylvania and Indiana.
Kristen started working in Urology in 2015 with an emphasis in Men’s Health and Sexual Medicine and joined Urology of Indiana in 2022. She has distinguished herself as a nationally recognized expert and thought leader in the fields of Peyronie’s disease and erectile dysfunction. She has dedicated her career to the field of Sexual Medicine and is a sought-after educator regarding her approach to the minimally-invasive treatment of Peyronie’s.
Outside of work, Kristen enjoys both yoga and travel.
Dr Edward Karpman is a board-certified urologist in Silicon Valley, CA. He joined Urological Surgeons of Northern California after completing his fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and residency at the University of California, Davis. He is medical director of the California Vasectomy & Reversal Center and Men’s Health at El Camino Hospital Los Gatos. Dr Karpman has been a pioneer in the field of Men’s Health, developing one of the first hospital-based Men’s Health programs in the United States. His practice focuses on the evaluation and treatment of male reproduction, sexual dysfunction and men’s health.
