What inspired you to work in sexual medicine?
I was drawn to the field early in residency, and after attending a program put on by one of the device companies during my first year of urology residency, I was hooked. I've never gotten bored with it and have never even come close to feeling burnout.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
There are so many, it is hard to choose one. We are allowed into the most private and potentially embarrassing aspects of our patients' lives, and the happiness they experience when we provide a solution is precious. A big part of my job is teaching and education, and it is an honor and a privilege to be part of our residents' growth.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
That I have a graduate degree in religious studies. But I think a better unknown fact is that I was once sponsored by a sock company. Yup.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
"Believe people when they show you who they are." Anyone can talk a big game, but it's how you show up that really matters.
What would your ideal vacation be?
Although it's more the Who than the Where that makes the ideal vacation, I am really looking forward to a High School Senior trip next year to ski in Japan.
