What inspired you to work in sexual medicine?
I was inspired by the opportunity to contribute to the effort of protecting cancer patients' quality of life after treatment.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
I love working with multidisciplinary teams on developing programs that support patients' and partners' sexual recovery after prostate cancer treatment. Both the clinical aspects - seeing patients and partners in treatment, and the research aspects - testing interventions and disseminating the results of research have been very rewarding.

What is something most people don’t know about you?
Most people probably don't know that I love opera. Recently, after leaving a urology meeting in Australia, my husband and I spontaneously popped into the beautiful Sydney Opera House to see the opera Adriana Lecouvreur, before getting on a plane home the next morning.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
When I started my job at the University of Michigan, my boss told me that, given my area of work (sexual health), I had to go to a meeting of SMSNA that fall. I went and I got hooked. I have come to every meeting since 2007.

What would your ideal vacation be?
I have many ideas. I would like to spend at least a month traveling around India. I would like to travel the sites of the Civil Rights Era in the South of the US.
