• Applications will be accepted only from SMSNA members in good standing.
• For MD’s, a medical license valid in the United States or Canada and proof of satisfactory completion of residency training are required.

• Institution is compliant with Good Clinical Laboratory Practice or "GLPC"
• Instituion is compliant with Good Clinical Practice or "GPC"

*Grant Funds are to be used to directly support salary and employees benefits (e.g., health, dental, vision coverage). The hosting institution may supplement this funding, but SMSNA is strictly bound by the parameters of its grant funding. Funds may not be used for any other purpose (e.g., overhead, indirect expenses). The hosting institution must provide medical liability insurances as outlined by governance of the hospital and the state board of medicine.

• Grants submissions will be reviewed 2X a year by the Research Grants Committee (at the AUA Annual Meeting and at the SMSNA Fall Scientific Meeting). They will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors to fund or not fund a particular grant based on established review criteria. The SMSNA Board of Directors must approve all grants prior to any notification.

• Awards will be paid to the sponsoring institution (medical school, hospital, university). Awards will not be paid directly to an individual. Funds will be dispersed in two installments, the first payment of 50% upon receipt of signed grant agreement and financial requirements and the second 50% upon receipt of a mid-term progress report based on submitted timeline. SMSNA does not withhold taxes (i.e., federal withholding, social security, local or state taxes, etc.). It is the responsibility of the hosting institution to ensure that appropriate federal and local taxes.

• The recipient will be required to provide both a Mid-term Report and a Final Progress Report. The Final Progress Report is due within 30 days of the end of the award term. The Final Report of the research findings shall be produced as a publication (abstract/poster and/or manuscript).
