Updated Guidance for the Resumption of Elective Surgeries

It is our responsibility as health care professionals to provide and let patients know that our institutions/offices are clean and safe places where the highest standards of care are followed. The SMSNA agrees with the American College of Surgeons (ACS), urging members to explain the evidence-based protocols that they have put in place to ensure the delivery of optimal care.

Information on State Guidance on Elective Surgeries was put out by The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) which gives a state by state look at this guidance.

SMSNA continues its support of the recommendations put out in the Joint Statement: Roadmap for Resuming Elective Surgery after COVID-19 Pandemic by the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, and the American Hospital Association, that offers a detailed statement on what needs to happen for elective surgeries to resume.
