Today at the SMSNA’s Annual Scientific Program at AUA, five penile implant experts spoke on common complications from inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) placement in the session “Avoiding & Handling IPP Disasters.” Dr. Daniar Osmonov spoke on glans necrosis, Dr. Chris Love addressed significant bleeding, Dr. Rafael Carrion shared information on purulent drainage from a distal incision, Dr. Paul Perito talked about a ventral penile malleable implant case gone wrong, and Dr. David Ralph discussed erosion.
All of the implant specialists offered advice on how to prevent these disasters from occurring, but they also addressed strategies for handling the various situations when they arose.
